About Mama

Hi, and welcome to my blog Being A Mama Abroad. My name is Zuzana and I am a first-time mama to a baby girl (Little E), born in June 2016.

If you’ve not guessed from the name of the blog, I live abroad (in Yorkshire), together with my other half (Mr A), and now our beautiful new addition to the family. I come from a small tourist resort town in Slovakia but I have been living in the UK since 2005, so this really is my second home now. Mr A is Albanian, and with a British baby added to the mix, that makes for quite a multicultural home.

I was playing with the thought of starting this blog during my pregnancy and in the early months of my baby’s life and finally threw myself into it when the little one was around eight months old.

I finally had a little bit more time on my hands, once the newborn stage of her life was over and I got (kind of) settled into my new role of being a mama.

I started this blog to have some record of our parenting journey, especially for Little E as she grows up. But that’s just the beginning. As someone, who’s lived abroad more than a third of her whole life, I’d like to share the good and the bad, and what it’s like to raise a child in a foreign land. You will also find here some tips, which I collect as I navigate through this new adventure called motherhood. I like to write about topics including money, travel, days out, products we love and much more.

Let me also add that while I like to think that I’m an expert when dealing with my own child, I don’t claim to be a parenting expert in general. It’s all just a work in progress. Everything you read here is from my personal experience, my thoughts and opinions.

I would be more than happy to connect with other mamas out there.

Thanks for stopping by.

Zuzana
