Slovakia, a little big country. This marketing slogan describes my home perfectly. Little in size, big in history and natural resources. Yet, Slovakia is probably not a must see destination for many people. I bet very few travellers would put it on top of their destination wish list. Slovakia is my home so it will always have a very special place in my heart. If you are not sure why you should even consider it, let me give you some amazing reasons to visit Slovakia. The High Tatras Since this place is my home, it has to be at the top of my list. If you love outdoors, sports, or hiking the endless mountain trails, you will love the High Tatras area. The Tatras Mountains, creating a natural border between Slovakia and Poland, are often referred to as the most beautiful part of Slovakia. They attract not only domestic but also…

I’ve been flying with Ryanair for as long as I can remember. Before and after I’ve had a baby. It’s cheap if booked well in advance, most of the time on time, and gets me from A to B. I know, many people find the customer service appalling and their strict baggage and check-in rules and fines outrageous. There are so many horror stories about this airline, and it might not work for everyone but for us it’s great. I know what to expect and I don’t expect anything extra for the price I pay. As long as you follow their strict rules, you can easily avoid any unnecessary drama at the airport. These days, with a baby on board Ryanair flight, things are a bit different. It’s not as straightforward as it once was. Every parent will tell you how challenging flying with small kids can be. So after being…

It’s that time again. Time to visit my family in Slovakia in a couple of days. It feels great, yet at the same time, it feels a bit strange at times. It’s familiar, yet at the same time, everything just seems so different. My emotions when I go home are somewhat mixed. There are the feelings of happiness, anticipation, and the excitement of counting down the days left till I see my family. But there is also confusion and shock, and I’m feeling a bit nostalgic when I see them when I’m back to where I grew up. Why do I feel that way? It’s my home after all. But then, I’ve got a home in the UK as well. Twelve years since I left the comfort of my home is a long time, and although I regularly visit, at least a couple of times a year, life goes on, for…

When our little one was about a year old, it was evident that she outgrew her Group 0+ infant seat. It was time for the next stage car seat. So I spent few weeks researching what’s available on the market. And there is A LOT available, let me tell you. I was so confused at first. All these different groups of seats to start with. And then the various features each car seat has. So, how the heck do you pick one? Stay tuned and read this Britax Evolva 1-2-3 review to see all the excellent features of this car seat. Hopefully, it will help you in your decision-making process. Our criteria for the perfect car seat We brainstormed for a bit and came up with a list of things that were important to us. Safety is, of course, number one priority. As the little one still naps occasionally when on…

Isn’t this parenting gig an amazing thing? All this responsibility we suddenly have for another human being. One of the first important decisions you as a parent have to make is picking a name. The first name can be a struggle, especially if you are in a multicultural relationship and happen to live abroad as well. Trust me. I never thought picking a name for our daughter would be such hard work. For many parents, it’s not just the first name dilemma. If you are not married or just don’t share the same surname with your significant other, that’s when it may get a bit complicated when deciding on the last name for your baby. This might be a growing issue for many parents these days, as relationships without marriage are quite common. Some women also choose to keep their surname when they get married and when children come along,…

What a great afternoon we had at Heath Manor Park and Jungle Experience. We visited for the first time last week, and we loved it. Especially the little one. It’s a great size park located in Halifax (West Yorkshire) with a fantastic playground, a small tropical world, water play area, coffee shop with outdoor seating and beautiful walled gardens. We parked on the street not far from the entrance; it was free as it was Sunday. Otherwise, there is a two-hour restriction. Not ideal, if you plan to stay longer, but with a toddler, it may just be enough. I think we stayed there for two and a half to three hours. Our first stop was the playground area. An obvious choice with a toddler. I’ve visited many different playgrounds in my area, but this one must be one of the best so far. It’s a lot bigger than any…
